Panorama of lab

The mission of the University of Missouri Metabolomics Center (MUMC) is to provide advanced, cutting-edge metabolomics capabilities and expertise to both the MU community and outside entities. We strive to provide advanced instrumentation and quality service, and to promote collaborations with those researchers in plant, animal and medical sciences who seek academic inputs from the metabolomics research group.

2024 Metabolomics Workshop

Learn how to measure and process metabolic profiles of your samples using high resolution chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry in this 5-day workshop. This will include hands-on sample preparation, derivatization, data acquisition and data analysis.

Aug. 12-16, 2024, Bond Life Sciences Center

New equipment
ThermoScientific iCAP-TQ ICP-MS

We are excited to announce a new addition to our Metabolomics Core services with our newly installed ThermoScientific iCAP-TQ ICP-MS. This inductively coupled plasma (ICP) triple quadrupole (TQ) mass spectrometer (MS) enables the quantification of most elements and metals in samples. ICP-MS is known for its ability to detect metals in liquid samples at very low concentrations. It can detect different isotopes of the same element, which makes it a versatile tool in isotopic labeling. The instrument can be run in single quadrupole mode or triple quadrupole mode with a reaction gas. This enables the highest sensitivity and accuracy.
